Our London favourites

Our favourite spots in and around London

Our favourite days out

These may not be London’s biggest attractions, but they’re three of our favourite ways to spend a day in the city.

Start with Jolene, wander around Angel & finish with a pint

Start with breakfast at Jolene, our favourite neighbourhood café. Marina loves the coffee and Thaís's go-to is their cinnamon bun.

Then wander around Angel and Upper Street before heading south for a pint at Brixton Brewery Taproom.

Brunch at the Borough Market & afternoon on Brick Lane

Start at Borough Market for breakfast or brunch (half the fun is walking around deciding what to eat!)

Then head to Brick Lane, where there's always something happening. Browse the vintage and independent shops, street food, markets, and don't forget to stop for a pint at the Old Truman Brewery.

The Breakfast Club & sunny day at the park

We love The Breakfast Club: big portions, properly indulgent food, and there's one everywhere you look.

If the sun’s out, grab some friends and head to the nearest park. No itinerary, no sightseeing... just enjoying one of those rare London days when everyone immediately heads outside.

Our favourite restaurants

The places we keep going back to

  • Our little neighbourhood Italian and a family favourite. We've been countless times, and it always feels special. It’s tiny, cosy and family-run, with a changing menu, perfect tiramisu and, every now and then, a waiter who suddenly starts singing opera.

    Osteria Tufo

  • One of our most-ordered favourites at home. The menu is huge, everything we’ve tried has been delicious, and there’s plenty for everyone. Including Marina, who’s very happy with a veggie kebab or pide.

    Gökyüzü

  • Yes, it’s a popular one, but we genuinely love it. Great broth, plenty of choice and a perfect match for Thaís’s love of Asian food and Marina’s love of noodles. Ideal on a cold London day (though we’d happily have it in summer too.)

    Shoryu Ramen

Our favourite pubs & cafés

Whether you'd like to grab a coffee or a pint.

  • Fantastic coffee, bread and pastries, right by our house (and in a few other places around London).

    Jolene

  • A lovely gastropub with really good food and a great setting in King’s Cross. Easily accessible and right next to Coal Drops Yard.

    The Lighterman

A huge, relaxed space with plenty of beer options, good food, and reasonable prices. And they open late!

If you have a bit more time

Three more things we love doing when we have a free day in London.

Coal Drops Yard

A huge open commercial centre with shops, restaurants and lots happening in summer. And the brilliant LGBTQ+ museum Queer Britain is right nearby.

Mercato Metropolitano

A huge food market with kitchens serving food from around the world. Our tip? Order a few small plates from different spots and share everything.

West End Musicals

We can't agree on our favourite show, but we absolutely agree that you should see a West End musical. The productions are spectacular and genuinely worth the time and money.
